Makin It Work Monday: Jerry

By: Ashley Martin-Hanlon

Jerry Stamp began his career as a professional musician - performing, touring, writing, producing and promoting.  After twenty years and a diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis, Jerry went back to school and received a diploma in graphic design in 2017.

As Jerry was looking for jobs, he came across a job posting for a graphic designer at Debbie Hanlon Real Estate, through the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities program. It was then that Jerry approached Easter Seals NL and started the application process for the program and position with Debbie Hanlon Real Estate.

Jerry was the successful candidate and has been employed with the company since August 2017. As a participant of the Opportunities Fund program, Jerry was able to access funds through the disability related supports portion to purchase an ergonomic chair and workstation (not pictured) that allows him to work in comfort. Through his employment with Debbie Hanlon Real Estate, Jerry has gained valuable experience in his new field. Easter Seals NL, as Community Coordinator for the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities, works with employers and participants across Newfoundland and Labrador to assist persons with disabilities obtain and maintain employment.
